RADAR is the abbreviation for RAdio Detection And Ranging (freely translated as "radio-based detection and ranging"), but is now also known as Radio Aircraft Detection And Ranging (freely translated as "radio-based aircraft detection and ranging") and is the name for various detection and tracking methods and devices based on electromagnetic waves in the radio frequency range (radio waves). Radar technology enables the detection of suitable objects and persons using radio waves that are harmless to health.
