In our carbon footprint, we record emissions that are caused directly by us. These are, for example, emissions caused by heating and cooling as well as the electricity supply to our buildings. Greenhouse gases emitted during the operation of our vehicle fleet are also included in the balance sheet.
On the other hand, we list emissions in the balance sheet that are not emitted directly by us but are attributable to our function as a trading company. These include, in particular, greenhouse gas emissions caused by our logistics service providers during the transport of our goods.
When selecting our suppliers, we make sure that they are also ISO 14001-certified wherever possible, so that we can focus on increasing efficiency and productivity during the product manufacturing process, which ultimately leads to more sustainable product quality.
Another important component of our environmental commitment is the annual preparation of a carbon footprint in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) accounting standard. The CO2 balance is also known as the corporate carbon footprint and describes the ecological footprint of a company.
By recording our ecological footprint, we are able to gain a comprehensive understanding of which areas have the greatest potential for optimisation in terms of environmental protection.
